Los Angeles Arts Consortium
The purpose of the Los Angeles Consortium of Professional Artists, Arts Organizations, and Cultural Institutionsis to ensure our students and schools have structured and sustained access to community-based arts education and arts integration programs and services. Towards this goal, the Consortium will:
1. Develop and support a network of professional artists and arts providers who are committed to:
a) ensuring school and district access to quality arts education services provided by community-based artists and arts organizations.
b) best practices in planning, delivering, evaluating the quality and impact of community-based arts providers.
c) professional development and collaboration: learning from and with each other to ensure high quality and rigorous arts programs and services.
d) research in the field.
2. Ensure and represent the vital role that the Los Angeles community of artists, arts organizations and cultural institutions play in:
a) planning, implementing, and evaluating quality arts programs at the school, district, county, and state levels.
b) providing innovative and culturally relevant arts education programs for southern California’s diverse student population.
c) advocating and developing resources for continued access to quality arts education programs and services.
d) modeling meaningful, creative partnerships in education.
3. Support Consortium members by promoting their programs and services – beginning with those artists and arts providers already vetted for quality and capacity by LAUSD’s Arts Education Branch – ACPN
4. Work collaboratively with districts, county and state offices, schools, teachers, parents, advocacy groups, funders, and policy makers to:
a) plan/design quality arts education & arts integration across the curriculum
b) implement/evaluate quality arts programs and services that meet the needs of our diverse student population including special needs and English learners
c) advocate and develop resources for structured, sustained arts education for all.
